  • Perform routine, common, and special diagnostic CT procedures, progressing toward higher-complexity exams
  • Provide direct assistance to physicians during diagnostic and special CT procedures
  • Assess and respond to patient needs to optimize patient care, image quality, and patient experience
  • Position patients and adjust physiology, procedure preparation, and technical factors
  • Modify technical factors to achieve desired imaging results and recognize procedure complications and limitations
  • Explain procedures and provide instructions to patients and family members
  • Follow radiation safety, ALARA, infection control, sterile, and aseptic techniques
  • Perform daily imaging equipment quality control and report malfunctions
  • Monitor and respond to patient reactions to contrast media or medications
  • Document patient procedures accurately and enter charges when services are delivered
  • Participate in department projects, shared governance, in-services, and continuing education
  • Communicate and collaborate with the patient care team and report pertinent patient care information

Requirements

  • Graduate of an education program approved by the credentialing body for the required credential(s)
  • No experience required
  • Must hold one of the required certifications: ARRT-R Radiologic Technologist—Radiographer, ARRT-N Radiologic Technologist—Nuclear Medicine Technology, ARRT-THR Radiologic Technologist—Radiation Therapy, or CNMT Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist
  • Must hold ARRT-CT Radiologic Technologist—Computed Tomography, with American Registry of Radiologic Technologists PSV within 6 months
  • Must hold BLS or Instructor certification from the American Heart Association
  • Sufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing English
  • Ability to safely perform assigned duties demonstrated through skills and competency assessments
  • Basic computer knowledge and ability to operate Hospital/Radiology Information Systems and Office software
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, organize workflow, and participate in problem-solving
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, physicians, family members, and coworkers
  • Ability to follow radiation safety, infection control, sterile technique, and hospital safety standards
  • May be required to be on-call during emergencies
  • May require travel within and outside the Houston Metropolitan area
