Job Summary
The CT Technologist TL utilizes Computed Tomography scanners to capture specific images ordered by a physician to aid in patient diagnosis.
Essential Job Functions & Accountabilities
- Performs procedures as ordered and obtains images according to written protocols.
- Positions patients appropriately using immobilization and protective equipment as needed.
- Organizes and accurately performs the individual steps in established procedures in the proper sequence, reviews, manipulates, and evaluates images to deliver high‑quality diagnostic images, including any required post processing at remote workstations.
- Starts up and calibrates the Computed Tomography system daily.
- Reviews orders with the radiologist to determine the proper protocol for each procedure.
- Administers IV contrast with proper dosage and documents according to department policy.
- Performs and documents quality control on equipment according to manufacturer guidelines or department protocols; recognizes and takes appropriate action for abnormal results, and reports equipment problems and failures to Bio‑Medical or Manager.
- Ensures a safe and clean environment with all necessary supplies needed to perform studies and procedures in the exam room.
- Applies and follows radiation safety principles (ALARA).
- Works with minimal supervision and makes independent decisions while maintaining tact, maturity, and a positive attitude.
- Understands and uses PACS, EMR, and other software related to job responsibilities.
- Engages in equitable distribution of departmental workloads.
- Works in variable environments and locations.
- Serves as a mentor and resource to onboarding CT Technologists and less experienced staff/students.
- Participates in providing orientation and training for new hires and students, ensuring that procedures are performed according to set standards.
- Solves complex problems and works independently with minimal guidance.
- May lead projects and is accountable for ongoing objectives.
- Provides training and direction to new team members.
- Leads staff and provides ongoing support to the department.

Required Qualifications
- Graduate of a JCERT approved school of Radiologic Sciences Program.
- 2 plus years of relevant experience.
- Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Computer Tomography (CT) or eligible to take the registry and must become registered within 12 months of hire.
- Certified by the Texas Medical Board (TMB) as a Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) by first day of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiology (R) or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) as a Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist.
- Associate’s Degree in Radiologic Sciences.
- Previous Lead/Supervisor Experience.
