Summary: Performs a variety of exams and invasive procedures using computed tomography. Utilizes independent judgement and possess high quality skills and knowledge of computed tomography. Works directly with the Radiologist in setting up exams and performing invasive procedures to achieve the highest quality outcome for the patient.
Responsibilities
- Perform all types of procedures within the department.
- Have knowledge of all preparations for each exam.
- Perform biopsies and other invasive procedures under direct supervision.
- Demonstrate proper patient positioning.
- Verify physician's orders prior to each scan.
- Respond to and recognize patient needs.
- Complete CT procedures accurately and timely, maintaining professional communication and delivering high‑quality diagnostic images.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for customers and healthcare team members, following safety and infection control policies, cleaning exam tables, providing comfort and hygiene measures, using personal protective equipment, ensuring rooms are stocked, providing appropriate protective devices, and monitoring radiation dose.
- Provide the highest quality care and respect for all customers, introducing oneself, explaining procedures, ensuring comfort, asking if any other needs exist, and maintaining confidentiality.
- Ensure proper use and condition of all CT equipment, keeping equipment operational, reporting malfunctions, managing film processor supplies, adjusting supportive equipment, and maintaining calibration and protective devices.
- Provide recommended services to patients: assure procedures are performed as ordered, identify patients properly, review contraindications for iodinated contrast, and communicate concerns.
- Attend continuing education and meet in‑service education requirements.
- Participate in call scheduling and respond promptly to emergency callbacks.
Qualifications
- Education: Graduation from an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology.
- Experience: Clinical rotation or completion of a certified CT program, or one year experience as a CT Technologist.
- License/Registration/Certification: Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or registry eligible.
