Job Summary

The CT Tech will coordinate services and activities specific to the imaging area (CT and radiology). The CT Tech monitors technical clerical functions to ensure efficient patient throughput and effective use of equipment and human resources based on patient load. The CT Tech performs CT scans and takes radiographs in accordance with the standards and practices set by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists to assist in diagnosis or treatment. The CT Tech applies appropriate patient care, recognizes essential patient conditions for successful completion of procedures, and ensures staff training and competence. The CT Tech follows patient‑specific care standards and service excellence standards to maintain high patient satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Perform prescribed CT – Computed Tomographic procedures.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and proficiency in the use of CT scan equipment.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of human anatomy and physiology.
  • Document information seen during exam on film or in writing.
  • Relay relevant patient information to physicians.
  • Apply radiation safety principles to minimize risk to patient, self and others.
  • Participate in rotating call schedule.
  • Perform duties in other areas of the department as needed.

Qualifications

  • Education:
    • Associate Degree or higher in Radiologic Technology.
    • Graduate of a radiology program accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) or a program approved by the American Medical Association, or a military training program of equivalent standards.
  • Experience:
    • One to two years of previous experience performing CT – Computed Tomography procedures is preferred.
  • Licenses & Certifications:
    • Certified Medical Radiologic Technologist by the Texas Medical Board (TMB).
    • Registered Technologist with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT(R)) and post‑primary certification in Computed Tomography with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT(CT)) within six months of hire. If hired prior to 4/13/12, having performed x‑rays since 1987, and grandfathered in by the state of Texas, only CMRT is required.
    • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
