CT Technologist - Lourdes Women's and Children's Hospital (PRN)

Job Description

The CT Tech 1 arranges patients for Computed Tomography examinations, produces CT images to aid in diagnosis, prevents unnecessary radiation exposure, ensures patient safety by using pre‑established imaging protocols, screens patients for safe administration of contrast media, utilizes departmental policy to perform safe operation of equipment, and provides complete pre‑ and post‑education to patients and families. Initially may require instruction and guidance to accomplish the job and should develop into performing work under general supervision.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate clinical skills, radiologic principles, anatomy and pathology processes using optimal techniques and positions.
• Adhere to policies and protocols to optimize examinations.
• Teach students sound radiography principles as required.
• Communicate effectively with patients to obtain clinical history/informed consent and explain procedures.
• Assist physicians in performing examinations with standard protocols and safety precautions.
• Identify and resolve clinical or emergent problems impacting exams.
• Demonstrate patient safety measures, including use of side rails, braking mechanisms and monitoring.
• Report and document any adverse, unsafe or unusual conditions.
• Understand IVs, heparin locks and central line usage relevant to CT.
• Maintain an orderly, safe, and clean environment; keep supplies stocked.
• Operate imaging equipment per manufacturer specifications, performing daily calibrations and adjustments.
• Troubleshoot equipment promptly and report problems.
• Recognize and perform routine maintenance to maintain image quality.
• Accurately identify patients and track studies; correct errors immediately.
• Participate in performance improvement initiatives, in‑services, and meetings.
• Act as backup for other technologists as needed.
• Complete other duties within specified time frames.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited radiologic technologist program.
• Good interpersonal, human relations, oral and written communication, teamwork, critical thinking, decision‑making, and organizational skills.
• Certified with a current state license, ARRT (R) or registry‑eligible/currant temporary license.
• BLS‑HCP certification.
