Position Title: CT Technologist

Location: Liberty Hospital

Shift: Mid-Shift (Mon - Fri, 11:30 AM - 8:00 PM)

Position Summary

The CT Technologist is responsible for producing cross‑sectional images to aid in diagnosing disease processes. Procedures may be performed at various health system locations. CT Technologists are expected to participate in ongoing training and education.

Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions

  • Acts as a liaison for communication between other departments and assists when called upon for special projects approved by the Radiology Department leadership team.
  • Assists with developing continuing education strategies with the CT Department to support the long‑term enrichment of staff.
  • Participates in providing teaching and learning opportunities to fellow technologists and students.
  • Ensures that all staff operate equipment optimally and safely by adhering to policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Operates CT scanners and auxiliary devices within the scope of designated locations, ensuring radiation exposure is set to provide the lowest dose for reasonable image quality as overseen by staff radiologists.
  • Maintains an organized flow of scheduled patients, coordinates examinations efficiently, and performs exams in a sequence that minimizes the patient’s stay in the hospital.
  • Possesses excellent knowledge of contrast reactions and responses and can respond immediately to patient needs.
  • Completes mandatory educational assignments as directed by supervisors or senior supervisors.
  • Performs routine CT procedures at a high standard and develops the ability to perform specialty studies with experience.
  • Sets equipment parameters, provides patient assessment and education, prepares accurate patient prep, and performs venous access for safe contrast administration.
  • Supports the mission and vision of KU Hospital and the goal of achieving “World Class” status.
  • Performs the professional, clinical, and technical competencies required by the assigned unit or department.

Required Education and Experience

  • High School Graduate or GED.
  • Certificate of Completion in Radiologic Technology from an accredited school of Radiology Technology.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Radiologic Technology or a related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience performing basic CT procedures.
  • At least one year of experience in a large facility.

Required Licensure and Certification

  • Computed Tomography (CT) – American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) within 180 days.
  • Licensed Radiologic Technologist (LRT) – State Board of Healing Arts for Kansas locations only within 90 days.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS or BCLS) – American Heart Association (AHA).

Preferred Licensure and Certification

  • Radiography (R) – American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT); required to apply for Computed Tomography (CT) – ARRT.

Knowledge Requirements

  • Advanced computer skills related to RIS, PACS, and EMR.
