Job Overview
The CT Technologist is responsible for patient safety and the performance of high‑quality CT studies. The role includes ensuring effective communication with patients and radiologists, training new technologists or patient coordinators, and troubleshooting the scanner and related equipment.
Responsibilities
- Ensure patient safety, including pre‑screening for contraindications to radiation and contrast injections.
- Use aseptic injection techniques.
- Produce high‑quality diagnostic images.
- Communicate effectively with customers and radiologists.
- Train new technologists or patient coordinators.
- Troubleshoot the scanner, monitor, PACS, and other peripheral equipment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent experience; associate’s degree or equivalent preferred.
- Registered CT Technologist by the ARRT (or NMTCB in lieu of ARRT if allowed by state).
- State license and, if applicable, licensure in medical imaging.
- CPR certification.
- Active state driver’s license.
- Strong customer service, organizational, and multi‑tasking skills.
- Basic knowledge of computer applications and programs.
- COVID‑19 vaccination may be a condition of employment.
- Successful completion of a pre‑employment background check and drug screen.
Physical Requirements
- May be exposed to outside weather conditions during patient transport on a mobile unit.
- May be exposed to blood, bodily fluids, and infectious disease.
- More than 50% of the time: sit, stand, walk; repetitive movement of hands, arms, and legs; see, speak, and hear ability to communicate with patients.
- Less than 50% of the time: stoop, kneel or crawl; climb and balance; carry and lift (ability to move non‑ambulatory patients).
