Overview

For positions that have only a rate listed, the displayed rate is the hiring rate but could be subject to change based on shift differential, experience, education or other relevant factors. Under the direction of radiologist, performs Cat Scan Procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail. Performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgement, with ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for imaging diagnosis. Assumes responsibility for designated areas or procedures as required.

This position is two to three weekdays per week, typically Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 12p-830p. Additional weekend coverage as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Patient and Room Preparation: entering patient data into Epic and other appropriate computer systems, placing the patient on the scan table in the correct position for the scan, obtaining appropriate scout image for procedure.
  • Obtain cross sectional images: Setting protocols and sequences to obtain high quality images for diagnosis by the radiologist.
  • Direct involvement during procedure: Assisting at the side of the radiologist during biopsy procedures, monitoring the progression of the procedure while in the control room, operating injector when necessary.
  • Photographing and processing of images: Photographing and labeling scan images, processing and displaying final images on viewing machines for radiologist interpretation.
  • Maintain all necessary records of image slices, injections, etc.
  • Observe all rules and regulations regarding radiation safety for patients and staff.
  • Train other associates and students in CAT Scan procedures.
  • Maintain orderliness and cleanliness of assigned area.
  • Perform duties of a 4T technologist as needed.
  • Perform other related assigned tasks.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Satisfactory completion of a formal radiologic technology training program that meets the requirements for certification by the ARRT.
  • NYS Licensed/Registered Radiologic Technologist. ARRT Certification in CT.
  • Radiographic film processor.
  • CAT Scan Systems.
  • Epic tracking equipment.
  • OHS Fit Test/OHS Annual Assessment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate Degree.
