Major Responsibilities

  • Technical CT procedures and equipment operation
    • Access veins for contrast injection
    • Recognize contraindications and adverse reactions to oral IV contrast
    • Identify abnormal or normal pathologies and apply proper protocol
    • Familiarity with cross‑sectional anatomy
    • Operate laser, scanner, injector, processor, and crash cart; report equipment problems
    • Perform tasks without supervision
    • Rotate shifts as needed; participate in on‑call rotation, responding within 45 minutes
    • Provide holiday coverage
    • Assist the radiologist with invasive procedures and clerical duties
  • Patient care and procedural support
    • Ensure patient comfort and safety for all procedures
    • Respond promptly to patient/physician complaints; report to supervisor
    • Answer patient questions about procedures
    • Coordinate multiple exams between CT and other departments
    • Maintain patient confidentiality in all areas (computer, charts, communication)
    • Maintain professional attitude toward patients and colleagues
    • Transport patients when escort services are unavailable
    • Provide immobilization and radiation shielding devices as needed
  • Documentation and quality improvement
    • Participate in CQI/QA and ACR statistics documentation
    • Properly stock rooms, check, and order supplies
    • Operate RadNet and CareConnection systems
    • Document patient histories and records as required
    • Process paperwork, handle requisitions, log tests, and charge patients
  • Safety compliance
    • Maintain CPR, IEMA, and ARRT certification
    • Operate equipment safely according to hospital and department policies
    • Use universal precautions daily
  • Commitment to organizational goals
    • Demonstrate adaptability and flexibility for change
    • Maintain reliability for attendance and punctuality
    • Comply with regulatory standards (current IEMA, ARRT)
  • Training and continuing education
    • Provide training assistance to new associates and radiology tech students
    • Assist with ACR standards and accreditation for CT
    • Keep current on new trends; attend continuing education programs and in‑services
    • Complete all required competencies and maintain CT certification within one year of hire

Education/Experience Required

  • 1 year radiology tech experience
  • Graduate of an approved Radiology Technology Program
  • Certification in CT

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

  • Familiarity with the CT keyboard and all CT equipment
  • ARRT, IEMA, CPR, CT certification

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Anticipate patient, employee, and department needs; accommodate weekend, holiday, and after‑hour call‑ins
  • Ability to sit, stand for extended periods; access to critically ill patients
  • Ability to start IVs; good written and oral communication; good organizational skills
  • Lift up to 35 pounds without assistance; use patient‑handling equipment when needed

  • Promote a culture of safety by identifying threats and intervening to prevent harm
  • Communicate openly and promote teamwork; report intimidating behavior and other threats to safety promptly
