Cat Scan Technician – RWJBarnabas Health At RWJBarnabas Health, the Cat Scan Technician plays a critical role in patient care and diagnostics. Operating under the supervision of a board-certified radiologist, they work with a high level of independence. They are responsible for preparing patients, administering contrast dye, ensuring radiation safety, and delivering high-quality diagnostic images. A typical day for a Cat Scan Technician may include: Analyzes patient physical condition, age and suspected pathology for proper technique Assists Radiologist in performing certain radiographic procedures Correctly marks images with time and body position Ensures patient comfort, physical and mental well being during the examination Ensures that room is properly stocked with all needed supplies prior to the beginning of the procedure Explains procedures, keeps patient informed of progress and assists patients in transferring on to/off examination table for procedures Observes equipment for proper functioning and reports malfunctions to supervisor Properly prepares room before patient enters and cleans it after patient exits Properly uses the Radiology Information System to arrive, change if necessary and complete cases Uses an understanding of the principles of growth and development to assess each patients age specific needs and provide age specific treatment and care This role might be for you if: Clear, compassionate communication defines how you interact with patients, families, and colleagues Attention to detail and technical precision guide your work every day You remain calm and adaptable while managing a fast-paced clinical environment Patient safety and delivering high-quality diagnostic imaging are your top priorities You enjoy working collaboratively with providers and interdisciplinary care teams Continuous learning and professional growth motivate you Creating a positive, reassuring patient experience is central to your approach To be considered for this Cat Scan Technician opportunity: Graduate of an AMA approved School of Radiologic Technology. Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology. CT Certification NJ License required. Previous CT experience required. Maintains required BLS Heart Saver/Health Care Provider through American Heart Association
