Job Description:
A Computed Tomography (CT) Technologist -commonly known as a CT Tech-is a specialized allied health professional whooperates advanced, 3D X-ray machinery (CT scanners) to capture detailed cross-sectional diagnostic images of a patient's internal organs, bones, and tissues . Working under the guidance of a radiologist, they balance complex technical execution with direct, empathetic patient care to help diagnose acute illnesses, traumas, and chronic conditions.
Core Responsibilities

• Patient Preparation & Care: Greet patients, verify their identities, explain the scanning process, and review medical history (including pregnancy status and allergies).
• Image Acquisition: Position patients accurately on the scanning table, configure equipment exposure controls, and operate the computerized scanning console to capture high-quality diagnostic images.
• Contrast Administration: Start IV lines and safely administer oral or intravenous radiocontrast agents to enhance tissue visibility, while closely monitoring patients for any adverse allergic reactions.
• Radiation Safety & Compliance: Adhere strictly to ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) protocols, utilize appropriate lead shielding, and monitor personal radiation badges to minimize exposure risks for patients and staff.
• Quality Assurance & Systems: Evaluate captured scans for exceptional technical quality before sending them to the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) for radiologist interpretation.
• Equipment Maintenance: Perform daily warm-up sequences, calibrate scanning hardware, and coordinate with biomedical engineers or physicists to troubleshoot technical issues.
