Job Description
At the direction of a qualified physician, the technologist performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgement, ingenuity, and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis.
- Perform computed tomography procedures using established protocols, including contrast administration without constant supervision.
- Adjust protocols and apply ionizing radiation appropriately for diagnostic CT.
- Utilize complex imaging equipment for acquisition, analysis, reconstruction and documentation of image data and complete procedures according to protocol.
- Administer PO, rectal and IV contrast per physician orders and department policy; assess patients for potential risk factors prior to administration.
- Communicate instructions clearly to patients, explain procedures, allay fears, and solicit cooperation.
- Identify patients properly using two identifiers and employ universal protocol.
- Review patient history, assess physician orders; apply departmental protocols for optimal data acquisition.
- Document patient history in electronic record as required.
Qualifications
- Licensed Radiology Technologist in NY State.
- Minimum one year CT experience.
- Certified to perform IV injections for CT exams; current BLS CPR certification required.
- Candidates may become certified within six months of hire.
Salary
$40 an hour (compensation within the stated range is determined by market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise, and internal equity considerations).
