Computed Tomography Technologist
The Computed Tomography Technologist independently performs imaging procedures, competently carrying out a variety of technical functions that require independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative. This role involves applying prescribed ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes.
Responsibilities
- Independently perform computed tomography procedures utilizing established scan protocols, including contrast administration.
- Adjust protocols and apply prescribed ionizing radiation appropriately for diagnostic CT purposes.
- Utilize complex imaging equipment for the acquisition, analysis, reconstruction, and documentation of image data.
- Demonstrate proper technique in venipuncture and use of power injectors according to department and manufacturer protocols.
- Administer PO, rectal, and IV contrast per physician orders and assess patients for potential risk factors.
- Communicate instructions clearly to patients and explain procedures to facilitate understanding and cooperation.
- Identify patients properly using two patient identifiers and utilize universal protocol when performing procedures.
- Review patient history and assess physician orders, applying departmental protocols for optimal data acquisition.
- Document patient history in electronic records as required and ensure proper coding and tracking of exams.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Graduate of an ARRT approved school of Radiologic Technology or completion of an accredited CNMT program.
- CT registry must be acquired within 18 months of date the primary registry was acquired or date of hire.
- 2 years of experience is required.
- ARRT Certificate and Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification (NMTC) required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- PA Act 31, PA Act 33, PA Act 34, and PA Act 73 certifications are required.
Schedule
This position requires a rotating shift of mixed daylight and evening with three 12-hour shifts per week, including every other weekend or every third weekend coverage based on needs.
