Radiology - Nuclear Med TechnologistUnder the general supervision of the Shift Supervisor provide patient services in a Level I Trauma Center. Perform Computed Tomo-Graphical procedures by operating a variety of Siemens platform scanners. The variety and complexity include but are not limited to Musculoskeletal Neuro and Body Imaging by following assigned protocols.
The delivery of quality service and positive interaction with customers is critical to the completion of all tasks. Ensure adherence to Hospitals and departmental policies and procedures. Patient care assignment may include Neonate Pediatric Adolescent Adult and Geriatric age groups.Detailed responsibilities:X-RAY - Follow prescribed techniques to administer specific radiation for imaging purposes adjust equipment calculate exposure factors position and immobilizes patients as necessary use appropriate lead shieldingEQUIPMENT - Operate imaging equipment computer and other assistive devices according to department standardsPAPERWORK - Complete and verify all appropriate paperwork involved in but not limited to exams patient education lab results and patient check listsSAFETY - Provide protection to patients family members staff and self in accordance with prescribed radiation safety standards and ALARAOBSERVATION - Observe patient and equipment during procedures document patient reactions or problems on requisition and report immediately to supervisorPATIENT CARE - Assume care for physical needs of the patient during examinations and proceduresCONTRAST MEDIA - Prepare and administer contrast media/agentsIMAGING - Assist physician with imaging process follow Radiology Department protocolsQUALITY CONTROL - Assume responsibility for portions of the quality control programs and provide instruction as requiredCLINICAL EDUCATION - Instruct specific units of didactic and/or clinical education as required to students clinical staff and residentsSUPPLIES - Clean assigned area maintain stock supply levels through inventory control and requisitioningPATIENT ASSISTANCE - Assist in reception area scheduling office and/or film library aid patients and transport them as necessaryFLOAT - May be required to float to another work assignment/areaDEVELOPMENT - Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs reading current literature attending in-services meetings and workshopsPATIENT SAFETY 1 - Follow patient safety-related policies procedures and protocolsPATIENT SAFETY 2 - Demonstrate proactive approach to patient safety by seeking opportunities to improve patient safety through questioning of current policies and processesPATIENT SAFETY 3 - Identify and report/correct environmental conditions and/or situations that may put a patient at undue riskPATIENT SAFETY 4 - Report potential or actual patient safety concerns medical errors and/or near misses in a timely mannerPATIENT SAFETY 5 - Encourage patients to actively participate in their own care by asking questions and reporting treatment or situations that they don't understand or may "not seem right"MEDICATION Under the supervision or direction of a Radiologist safely and properly retrieve handle store and waste select medications for use during the setup performance and cleanup of radiology proceduresQualifications:Education:Essential: Program GraduateEducation specialization: Essential: Comm on Allied Health (AMA) or Accredited ED ProgramExperience:Essential: Nonessential: Cross sectional anatomy course completed 1 year directly related experienceCredentials:Essential: CPR for Healthcare/BLS Prov or Prof Rescuers w/in 30 daysCT Cert by ARRT w/in 2 yearsAmerican Registry of Radiologic Technologists LicenseIntermediate Life Support Certification w/in 6 monthsNM Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Program Lic NMMIRTPNMMIRTP CT licensure provisional w/in 6wks DOP up to 2 yrsCredential equivalent experience:Essential: NM Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Program (NMMIRTP) CT licensure - must obtain within 6 weeks of date of position and may be provisional for up to 2 years from date of positionPhysical Conditions:Heavy Work: Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects or people.
