Job Title

Performs computer tomography studies following protocol. Is able to differentiate between normal and abnormal anatomy and will tailor exams in accordance with patient history obtained, protocol, and Radiologist instruction.

Administers IV and oral contrast as required for procedures according to protocols. Follows departmental protocol and institution guidelines for delivery of IV contrast material. Monitors patients physical and mental condition throughout the entire procedures. Records any and all patient data appropriately.

Provides radiation protection for patients, self and others using gonadal shielding and collimation where applicable. Document acknowledgment of scheduling as directed.

Performs nursing duties, including but not limited to the following: assisting the radiologist in the performance of sterile procedures, practicing sterile technique, obtain vital signs, obtain pertinent clinical history, and must be proficient in venous puncture. Will document any and all important data appropriately. Will be able to identify an allergic reaction or any other urgent medical condition and will notify and assist the radiologist in the treatment of such a situation.

Prepares and maintains patient information and digital files in computerized database.

Performs clerical duties in the absence of clerical personnel.

Orients and trains new personnel and students to the departmental policies, procedures and protocols.

Participates in quality assurance and CQI programs as needed.

All other duties as assigned.

Required: ARRT CT

Equivalent Experience: Required within three years of hire or transfer into position.

Required: BLS: Basic Life Support

Equivalent Experience: Within 1 month of hire or transfer

Required: ARRT: Reg Radiologic Technologist

Equivalent Experience: Within 1 year of hire or transfer.

Associates Degree

Equivalent Experience: Degree in Healthcare Related Field. One (1) year experience working as a CT technologist in a medical center or similar setting preferred. At least two (2) years experience working as a technologist in a medical center or similar setting preferred. ARRT registered required and CT registered required (as of 3/13/16) within 2 years of hire date. A BA in Nuclear Medicine is a degree that qualifies to hold this position. Include Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologists and also include the NMTCB CT certification as a pathway for CT certification instead of ARRT
