Certified Surgical Tech - First AssistantThe Certified Surgical Tech - First Assistant assists in the provision of patient care based on the nursing process and in compliance with the policies; protocols; and procedures of Hendrick Health. They are accountable for maintaining and improving their own nursing knowledge and skills. They show proficiency in the organizational and technical skills involved in the surgical setting and assists on all types of surgical procedures under the supervision of a Surgeon and RN Circulator.
Sets-up; maintains; and works from sterile areas. Assists in set-up and clean-up of operating rooms. Helps in all related functions that are relevant to the care of our patients and surgeons in accordance with appropriate laws and regulations.

Demonstrates knowledge and skill in meeting age-related and handicapped patient needs.Job RequirementsMinimum EducationCertified Surgical Tech - First Assistants graduate from surgical assisting programs accredited through ARCST; a collaborative effort of AST; ACS; and SASA; by CAAHEPMinimum Work ExperienceAt least one year of surgery experienceRequired Licenses/CertificationsFirst Assistant Certification from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA); or First Assistant Certification from the American Board of Surgical Assistants (ABSA); or Assistant at Surgery from the National Assistant at Surgery Council; IncBLSRequired Skills; Knowledge; and AbilitiesKnowledge of anatomyAbility to manipulate surgical instruments and equipmentCompetent use of aseptic techniqueRequires excellent interpersonal skills
