Responsibilities
- Plan and administer anesthesia and related care to patients upon request by physician to facilitate diagnostic, therapeutic, surgical or obstetric procedures, according to the standards and principles of anesthesiology.
- Develop a plan of anesthesia care for patients of all ages in coordination with an anesthesiologist or the physician.
- Implement and adjust the anesthetic plan to adapt to the patient’s response.
- Document response to the anesthetic in a complete and accurate manner.
- Assure the safety of patients while undergoing anesthetic care and when transferring care to other qualified health‑care providers.
- Collaborate with and direct other health‑care personnel related to the administration of anesthesia care.
Qualifications
- Education: Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing and a Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Programs (COA) accredited school of nurse anesthesia education.
- Experience: None specified.
- Certification & Licensure: Current licensure as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner‑Nurse Anesthetist in the State of Virginia; current certification or recertification as an active, practicing nurse anesthetist by the National Board of Certification & Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA); current American Heart Association (AHA) approved BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
