Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA)The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) is responsible for the patient's pre-anesthesia and medication, review of the patient's treatment plan and preparing the patient for surgical procedures. The CRNA administers anesthesia and supporting drugs, monitors the patient's reaction before and after surgery and ensures all documentation regarding anesthesia is accurate. This advanced nursing position involves working in collaboration with physicians in the operating and recovery room of Round Rock Surgery Center.Duties and responsibilities include:Select and administer anesthesia medications or treatments to patients undergoing surgery.Monitor patient vital signs and oversee patient recovery from anesthesia.Evaluate patients' post-surgical responses to anesthesia and take appropriate corrective actions if complications occur.Perform pre-anesthetic screenings, including physical evaluations and patient interviews, and document results.Discharge patients from post-anesthesia care.Manage patients' airway or pulmonary status during surgery and monitor responses using invasive and noninvasive techniques.Prepare prescribed solutions and administer local, intravenous, or other anesthetics following specified methods and procedures.Respond to emergency situations by providing airway management, administering emergency fluids or drugs, or using basic or advanced cardiac life support techniques.Assess patients' medical histories to predict anesthesia response.Develop anesthesia care plans and obtain informed consent from patients for anesthesia procedures.Disassemble and clean anesthesia equipment.Inform physicians/surgeons of patient's condition during surgery.Assist physicians/surgeons with patient care during surgery when appropriate.Adhere to all Advanced Pain Care, Round Rock Surgery Center and specific departmental policies.Display regular and predictable attendance.Perform other job duties as assigned.Requirements:Qualifications:Education: Master's Degree in nursing and graduate of an accredited nurse anesthesia educational program.Experience: Minimum of two years' prior work experience as a CRNA.

Pain management experience is preferred.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Effective communication and problem solving skillsMust display empathy and positive regard for others in written, verbal and non-verbal communicationsFollows appropriate compliance and safety measuresMust have careful attention to detail and sharp concentrationAbility to react quickly when a patient's condition changesAbility to stay calm under stressful conditionsGood self-control and judgementTechnical proficiency in a variety of clinical skills and knowledge of operating equipmentWorking conditions:Environmental Conditions: Medical Office environmentPhysical Conditions:Must be able to work as scheduled – typically from 8:00 – 5:00 M-FMust be able to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods of timeMust be able to bend, stoop and stretchMust be able to lift and move boxes and other items weighing up to 30 pounds.Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate office equipment, etc.
