Building Engineer – Critical FacilitiesShift: 7:30am – 4:30pmIdeal BackgroundExperience supporting data centers, critical infrastructure, industrial facilities, healthcare campuses, utility plants, manufacturing environments, or other 24/7 operations. Strong understanding of electrical power systems, HVAC, and mechanical infrastructure in high-availability environments. Participation in an on-call rotation is required.Position SummaryThe Building Engineer – Critical Facilities is responsible for maintaining the reliability, safety, and performance of critical building infrastructure.

This role requires expertise in electrical power distribution systems as well as mechanical and HVAC equipment to support continuous operations. The position focuses on system uptime, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and operational risk mitigation while working closely with internal teams and stakeholders.Key ResponsibilitiesOperate, monitor, and maintain critical electrical infrastructure including UPS systems, power distribution equipment, transfer switches, generators, and switchgear.Maintain and troubleshoot HVAC and mechanical systems, including cooling equipment, pumps, air handling units, and related infrastructure.Perform preventative and corrective maintenance activities.Monitor building systems and environmental conditions to ensure optimal performance.Execute equipment startups, shutdowns, and load transfers following established procedures.Conduct routine facility inspections and document system deficiencies or operational risks.Develop, review, update, and execute maintenance and emergency procedures.Communicate system status, incidents, and operational risks to stakeholders.Participate in emergency response efforts, troubleshooting, and root cause investigations.Support a 24/7 on-call rotation.Required Qualifications7+ years of experience supporting critical facilities, industrial infrastructure, or high-availability environments.Strong knowledge of electrical power distribution systems.Strong knowledge of HVAC and mechanical building systems.Experience developing and executing maintenance and emergency operating procedures.Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in operational environments.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Ability to respond effectively during critical incidents and outages.Preferred QualificationsExperience supporting large-scale critical facilities or high-availability operations.Experience with generators, load testing, and backup power systems.Familiarity with building automation, monitoring, or management systems.Technical certifications, trade training, or vocational education in electrical or mechanical disciplines.Experience participating in incident reviews and operational improvement initiatives.Ability to identify system inefficiencies and recommend reliability improvements.
