Summary
Holds primary board certification (or eligibility for certification) by either the American Board of Anesthesiology, the American Board of Internal Medicine, the American Board of Surgery, the American Board of Emergency Medicine and has completed an ACGME‑approved fellowship in Critical Care Medicine. The candidate must be board certified or board eligible at the time of hiring. The role requires leading the multidisciplinary critical care team, coordinating care among primary service and other consultant teams, with strong communication and collaboration skills. Responsibilities include assessing, treating and supporting patients with one or more vital organ system failures to prevent further life‑threatening deterioration, performing resuscitation for acute cardiac, respiratory, or neurological emergencies, and carrying out procedures such as intubation, difficult airway management, central and arterial line placement, thoracentesis, lumbar puncture, ultrasonography, and diagnostic/therapeutic bronchoscopy.
Responsibilities
- Lead the multidisciplinary critical care team and coordinate care among primary service and consultant teams.
- Staff a 16‑bed surgical intensive care unit (ICU).
- Assess and treat patients with one or more vital organ system failures.
- Perform resuscitation for acute cardiac, respiratory, or neurological emergencies.
- Conduct procedures including intubation, difficult airway management, central and arterial line placement, thoracentesis, lumbar puncture, ultrasonography, and diagnostic/therapeutic bronchoscopy.
Qualifications
- MD or DO degree.
- Board eligible or board certified in anesthesia, internal medicine, surgery, or emergency medicine.
- Completed an ACGME‑approved fellowship in Critical Care Medicine.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
