Critical Care App Nurse Practitioner Or Physician Assistant
We are seeking a dedicated Critical Care Advanced Practice Provider Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our team. This position is eligible for a $15,000 sign-on bonus and $5,000 relocation reimbursement, which will be discussed with interviewed candidates. In addition, hires are eligible for additional compensation bonuses tied to productivity and retention. These positions offer billable hours, shift and holiday differential, and monthly bonuses. Position details include:
- Full-time (average 40 hours per week).
- Schedule consists of an average of (3) 12-13 hour shifts per week to include up to 50% nights, weekends, holidays, and paid call.
- Flexible scheduling options may be available, including weekend and/or night shift-only options with additional incentives.
- Eligibility for a recurring retention bonus given after 12 months of employment and every 2 years thereafter.

The advanced practice provider will be employed by the Department of Anesthesiology within WashU Medicine, a top-ranked medical school in the country. The APP will work at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, a nationally recognized Magnet center and ranked among the nation's best hospitals by U.S. News & World Report, and/or affiliated BJC community hospitals, and telemedicine. Opportunities include cardiothoracic ICU, surgical/burn/trauma ICU, combined medical/surgical ICUs, and telemedicine. ICU work locations will be determined based on the applicant's experience and professional interests. Will practice as an independent provider in collaboration with a fellowship-trained intensivist within diverse, skilled, inter-professional critical care teams. The Advanced Practice Provider (Critical Care) provides advanced care to critically ill patients usually in an ICU or Emergency Department or an intensive surgical area required strong procedural skills, critical thinking and the ability to manage high acuity patients independently under the collaboration with an intensivist. Requirements for this role include a master's or doctoral degree as a Nurse Practitioner (Acute Care certification) or Physician Assistant with concentrated critical care experience or knowledge. Oversees the plan of care ordering tests, medications and treatments for complex conditions.
Primary duties and responsibilities include:
- Providing direct patient care to include obtaining patient history, performing patient assessment via observation, interview, and examination.
- Ordering and interpreting the full spectrum of diagnostic tests and procedures, including x-ray, electrocardiogram, hemodynamic monitoring, and laboratory tests.
- Performing critical care ultrasound.
- Providing counseling and education of patients and their families/caregivers concerning preventative health, treatment options, and community resources.
- Formulating differential diagnoses and diagnoses.
- Planning, implementing, and directing treatment and management of patients with acute, critical, and/or complex conditions and evaluating outcomes of care.
- Documenting patient history, physical examination, assessment, and plans of care in patient medical record.
- Managing health conditions via prescriptive authority or provides referral to other healthcare providers or community resources.
- Performing diagnostic or therapeutic interventions consistent with certification and state regulations.
- Performing invasive procedures commonly utilized in the critical care setting.
- Billing for professional services as permitted by collaborative practice agreement.
- Supporting 24/7 staffing model, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Scheduling staff in various critical care settings, including telemedicine.
- Maintaining a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients/families in accordance with established clinic/hospital standards.
- Working in accordance with established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, and quality assurance programs as well as safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
- Participating in emergency and critical care situations, providing rapid assessment, stabilization, and initiation of treatment for the acutely ill or injured patients.
- Regularly participating in quality improvement and process improvement activities centered on the goal of providing exceptional, evidence-based patient care. Serves as clinical expert and leadership consultant to nursing.

Salary Range: $114,200.00 - $205,400.00 / Annually The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
