Duties

• Handle assigned criminal cases from client meetings through court appearances.
• Engage in extensive client interaction, including intake and ongoing contact.
• Prepare clients for hearings and appear in court for various proceedings.
• Negotiate or settle cases and prepare matters for jury trial as required.
• Review intake details and determine case viability for new potential clients.
• Draft legal and motion pleadings with the support of the Criminal Support Team.
• Perform legal research and develop strategies based on legal principles.
• Document and monitor case updates to ensure timely task completion.

Requirements

• Proficient with Microsoft 365 Suite applications.
• Familiarity with case and client management software (e.g., Filevine, Law Pay).
• 1-3 years of previous criminal law experience.
• Experience in a small to medium law firm preferred.
• 1-3 years of criminal hearings and/or trial experience preferred.
• EducationJuris Doctorate (J.D.) degree.
• CertificationsLicensed to practice law in the State of Tennessee in good standing.
• SkillsExcellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience in quoting and selling clients on legal services.
• Ability to handle large case volumes in a high-paced environment.
• Periodic travel for legal hearings.
• Conversational Spanish fluency preferred.
