BASIC FUNCTION: The Crewleader is responsible for leading the work activities of maintenance personnel responsible for repair and maintenance of water and wastewater systems.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Oversee water and wastewater system crews performing repairs, maintenance, and operations of all utility systems.
2. Training of maintenance and operations crews in the performance of their duties.
3. Operate equipment used to repair, maintain, or provide new service for the water/wastewater systems.
4. Work as part of a crew to repair, maintain, and operate all water and wastewater systems.
5. Maintain records for all maintenance, repair, and operations of water/wastewater systems both electronically and manually.
6. Perform other duties as assigned.
TYPICAL DECISIONS: The incumbent must determine the materials required for a project.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge:
Knowledge of basic mathematics, chemistry, mechanical, and basic electrical work.
Knowledge of all safety procedures including but not limited to confined space entry, trench safety, working around power lines, and working around chemicals.
Skills: Position requires skill in performing work requiring strength and agility in all weather conditions; skill in the use of equipment used in the construction, maintenance and repair of facilities; skill in preparing sub-grades; effective oral and written communication skills. Incumbent may maintain a 24-hour on-call work schedule.
Education: High school graduate or GED
Experience: A minimum of two years of general construction experience using a wide variety of equipment. Prior lead responsibility is preferred.
NOTE: Any work-related experience resulting in acceptable proficiency levels in the above Minimum Qualifications is an acceptable substitute for the above-specified education and experience requirements.
Licenses and Certificates: Texas Class B commercial driver's license (or obtainment within three (3) months of appointment). Grade "C" Groundwater or Distribution License, Grade "C" or Collection II Wastewater License (or obtain one in six (6) and water/wastewater within one (1) year).
