Position Overview

Our client located in the Baltimore-Washington area is hiring for a Controller to lead accounting and financial control for the credit business line.

The role owns accurate books and records, timely close and reporting, and effective accounting controls.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and year end close, review journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, trial balances, and close deliverables.
• Prepare and review GAAP financial statements, NAV and stakeholder reporting, and calculation of applicable servicing, management, or incentive fees.
• Maintain intercompany accounting and confirm both sides of entity activity are recorded and reconciled.
• Oversee loan portfolio from origination and funding through asset repayment; reconcile servicing records and control accounts to the general ledger.
• Oversee borrowings, principal and interest, financing costs, bank draws, loan pledges, escrows, liquidity, and covenant reporting; reconcile calculations to supporting sources.
• Maintain accounting policies, close procedures, and internal controls; identify gaps and drive remediation. Lead audit support, including schedules, reconciliations, confirmations, and auditor responses.
• Coordinate internal tax workpapers for partnerships and corporate filings, K-1s delivery and support, and estimated taxes with external preparers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA required or strongly preferred.
• At least 8 years of progressive accounting experience, with lending, investment management, or financial services preferred. xhqgsiq
• Track record strengthening accounting policies, close processes, internal controls, and audit-ready documentation; experience coordinating audits and multi-entity tax reporting.
