Creative Strategist Needed (Full-Time)

Somewhere out there is a direct response strategist who's sick of watching great concepts die before anyone puts real money behind them. Who knows their stuff would print if someone just handed them the budget and got out of the way.

That's who I'm hiring.

We build and scale brands. We're no strangers to spending $250k+ a day on Meta or hitting a million orders inside a brand's first year. That's just what we do. We hire killers so we can build brands that actually win. Now we've grown into another spot, and I want you running creative on the next brand.

One spot. I'm filling it now.

The job

Most places cut this work into four pieces. Strategist writes a brief, copywriter takes a pass, editor takes another, and by the time it ships the idea's been sanded down to nothing. That drives me insane.

I want one person on the whole thing. You dig through the data, find the angle, write it, brief the edit, push it till it's right, then read what happened and call the next move.

It only works if direct response is already how your brain works. Awareness levels, market sophistication, unique mechanisms, VSLs. If that's your native language, keep going. If it isn't, this one's not for you, and that's fine.

What you'll actually do?

  • Live in the Ad Library. Tear apart what's winning in our space and the ones next door. I don't want "this is doing well," I want why.
  • Find the angle. A real insight about a real person, aimed at where the market's head actually is right now.
  • Write it. Hook, lead, mechanism, proof, close. Copy that stops the scroll and walks someone all the way to the buy. This is the heart of the job and the part I care about most.
  • Brief the build. Clear enough that the editor or creator nails it without a dozen questions. Storyboard it when the concept needs that. What comes back should look like what was in your head.
  • Own the formats. UGC, VSL, GRWM, podtalk, yappers, AI slop, whatever. You pick the mix and how wide to spread the bets. Your call.
  • Push the edit. When a cut's off, you're the one in there with notes. Hook timing, pacing, a caption a beat slow, the wrong frame on the open. You drag an almost-winner over the line.
  • Read the results. Once it's live you're in the numbers. Winners and losers both have something to teach and you dig till you know which. Why one scaled and one stalled. What's turning before everyone else sees it. Kill the dead stuff, feed the live stuff, and pull your next concept straight off the data.

Then go again, faster. Something hits and you're already shipping new hooks and cuts off it while the next idea's in the oven. You don't wait for a green light. You trust your read.

Who you are?

You're a direct response native first, everything else second. Show you fifty winners and you'll spot the thread running through all of them.

You've done this in ecommerce and DTC. Not adjacent to it, in it. You've watched real spend move on real funnels and you know how the machine works.

You've got taste and you can back it. Which brands are brilliant, which are torching cash, and why.

You catch the small stuff. Usually that's the whole difference.

You bet. One outlier pays for a pile of misses, so you swing instead of playing it safe for a row of fines.

You're not precious. Data kills your favorite idea, you kill it too.

And you run yourself. I'm not hovering over you and I'm not walking you through it. Take the goal, go.

The compensation

Your pay moves with what you put on the board, not the hours you sit in the chair. It works in two stages.

First 60 days (ramp):

  • Strong flat base, no strings
  • You won't have much spend behind you yet, so this carries you while you learn the brand and get your first wins live
  • Ramp fast, come off it fast

After that:

  • Base steps down, and you start taking an uncapped cut of the Meta spend behind your creatives
  • Better ads hold more spend, more spend pays you more, no lid on it
  • At what our creatives already spend, our top performers are in the $125k to $250k range, and there's no ceiling on it

Before you apply

This isn't a normal nine-to-five, and I'm not going to pretend it is. Nobody's counting your hours, but some weeks ask a lot, because that's what scaling an offer costs.

If clocking out at five is what you want, no judgment, it's just not this. This is for someone who wants to own something and go get the upside that comes with it.

How to apply?

No resume, no cover letter. I want to see how you think. Send me a short Loom:

  1. Break down this ad: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1OvwsJJacQaKWnKdAmMLusMJ4uHocwKq9/view. Awareness level, market, mechanism, why the lead lands, what you'd change.
  2. Show me an ad you think is great from the Ad Library and tell me why.
  3. Drop the Loom and your details here: https://forms.gle/R2b1RyJNxje2qjrw7

Kick off the Loom by telling me what your favorite ecomm brand is to get ad inspo from. That's how I know you actually read this.

What happens next?

Application lands, we get on a call, and we go deep on how you think. Then a paid task, real work, so I see what you do, and you see what working with us feels like. One more call to run through it. Fit on both sides, and you start.

One spot. I'm filling it now. Sounds like you? Send the Loom.
