Crane Operator

We're looking for an experienced Crane Operator to join our team supporting transmission line, substation, and substation foundation projects across the Midwest and beyond. This is a hands-on field position for an operator with experience safely operating cranes in utility construction, heavy civil, foundations, or related infrastructure projects.

What You'll Do:
  • Safely operate cranes and lifting equipment on transmission, substation, and foundation projects
  • Perform critical lifts of materials, equipment, rebar cages, anchor bolt assemblies, forms, and other construction components
  • Set up, inspect, and prepare cranes for daily operations and scheduled lifts
  • Read and understand lift plans, load charts, site plans, and project requirements
  • Work closely with foremen, superintendents, riggers, laborers, and other operators to execute lifts safely and efficiently
  • Assist with positioning equipment and materials throughout the jobsite
  • Support installation of drilled piers, foundations, rebar, anchor bolt cages, and concrete-related scopes
  • Conduct daily equipment inspections and identify mechanical or operational issues
  • Maintain proper communication with ground personnel and follow established signaling procedures
  • Ensure crane operations comply with OSHA requirements, manufacturer specifications, and project-specific safety standards
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area around crane operations
  • Communicate potential hazards, changing site conditions, and equipment concerns to field leadership
  • Travel to various project locations as needed
What We're Looking For:
  • 3+ years of crane operating experience in utility construction, heavy civil, foundations, or related infrastructure
  • Experience operating cranes on transmission, substation, foundation, or large-scale construction projects preferred
  • Strong understanding of crane operation, load charts, rigging practices, and safe lifting procedures
  • Experience working around drilled piers, rebar cages, anchor bolts, concrete, and other foundation-related scopes is a plus
  • Ability to perform pre-operation inspections and identify equipment issues
  • Strong awareness of jobsite hazards and commitment to safe work practices
  • Ability to communicate effectively with ground crews and field leadership
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and physically demanding jobsite conditions
  • Required crane certifications/licensing for the equipment and jurisdiction, where applicable
  • Willingness to travel extensively
Travel:

Candidates can be based anywhere in the Midwest, South, East, or Central U.S. and must be willing to travel to project sites as needed.
