Crane Operator

The Crane Operator's primary function is to safely and efficiently operate a circular overhead crane to move logs, lumber, equipment, and materials throughout the facility. This position plays a critical role in maintaining production flow while ensuring compliance with all safety, environmental, and operational standards.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate crane to unload incoming log trucks
  • Ensure log inventory is correctly stacked and rotated
  • Load logs on decks to keep a consistent flow into the mill
  • Conduct daily inspections
  • Maintain cleanliness of operator cab and work area
  • Communicate effectively with truck drivers and scalers using radios

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of one year safely operating heavy equipment in an industrial environment
  • Strong attention to detail and situational awareness
  • Experience in an advanced operator role; above general labor level
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous crane operation experience preferred.
  • Sawmill or other wood products experience
