Primary Purpose/Role
The primary responsibility of a school counselor is to counsel and advocate for all students to fully develop their personal, social, academic, and career abilities. A school counselor works alongside school faculty/staff, students, parents, and community to plan, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive developmental guidance and counseling program at the assigned school.

Qualifications
Education/Certification
- Master's degree in Counseling
- Valid Texas school counseling certificate
Special Knowledge/Skills
- Minimum three years of creditable years of teaching experience
- Knowledge of school counseling procedures, social/emotional learning, student academic and career development. Child behavior management and emotional regulation techniques.
Other Skills And Abilities Required
- Maintain positive and professional communication (i.e. email, written, and verbal)
- Maintain professional and emotional composure
- Promote a positive, caring environment
- Work with and respond consistently and equitably to all personnel, students, and parents/guardians
- Communicate and support expectations that are consistent with district counseling program objectives
- Interpret policies and procedures
Salary: AP PG 5 / 198 days
Starting: $70,340
