Boise Cascade is looking to hire Counsel to join the Corporate Legal team. This successful candidate will likely be a new or recent law school graduate who is interested in learning, building their experience and assisting more senior law department professionals. This position will allow the candidate to build professional experience and learn the practical aspects of applied law, as well as learning the practical function of the business.

The successful candidate will be based out of the corporate HQ building in Boise, ID. Travel may be required occasionally to locations across North America.Pay Range: $100,000 to $180,000 Primary DutyProvides legal counsel and other services to clients within the corporation under general supervision of Associate General Counsel.  Essential FunctionsSupports one or more General Counsel in the execution of the Associate General Counsel’s responsibilities.Serves on departmental and corporate committees and task forces.Appropriately obtains, analyzes and documents the facts, data, documents and applicable law necessary and pertinent to the assigned issue or project.Tasks are assigned of generally increasing complexity and responsibility to develop his/her professional skills and abilities are assigned to prepare him/her for full client/case assignments and responsibilitiesResponsibilities: Provide legal support in furtherance of strategic business initiatives and objectives.Demonstrate strong commitment to diversity and inclusion, sustainability, environmental awareness, and the Company’s values: integrity, safety, respect, and pursuit of excellence.Support the Company’s ethics and compliance programs and related efforts.Draft and negotiate various contracts with suppliers, customers, vendors, and partners; including supply agreements, transportation agreements, equipment purchase agreements, leases of real property and equipment, non-disclosure agreements, non-compete agreements, employment agreements, IT and related technology agreements, administrative responses, and related documents.Advise business clients on intellectual property issues.Advise business clients on labor and employment law issues, including internal investigations.Work on mergers and acquisitions, along with related documentation and due diligence.Provide support on employment, labor, and litigation claims.Collaborate with outside counsel as necessary.Assist legal department with various projects to address the needs of a growing company in all 50 states.Requires the application of sound professional skill and judgment, a broad knowledge of company operations, policies and procedures, the ability to properly analyze legal, business and practical issues.Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.QualificationsBasic QualificationsJuris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school and member in good standing of the bar of at least one US State with the ability to be admitted in Idaho.Display a high level of professionalism and outstanding business judgementExcellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills.Able to travel 10-15% of time as needed.Preferred Qualifications3+ years of work experience in related job function.3+ years of experience in a large law firm and/or in-house settingCore CompetenciesSafety Awareness; Adaptability; Building Customer Loyalty; Building Trust; Communication; Decision Making; Initiating Action; Negotiation; Technical/Professional Knowledge. The above represent general responsibilities for the position.  Other duties, responsibilities, and qualifications may be required and/or assigned as necessary.Boise Cascade is the only wholesale stocking distributor for building products that can service the entire United States, and is one of the largest manufacturers of plywood and engineered wood products in North America.
