Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant to provide exceptional care to our pediatric patients. The COTA will work under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist and collaborate closely with families and our interdisciplinary clinical team.
Clinical Duties
- Provide individualized occupational therapy treatment under the supervision and direction of a licensed Occupational Therapist and in accordance with each patient's established Plan of Care.
- Implement evidence-based interventions to help pediatric patients develop functional skills and achieve established treatment goals.
- Assist the supervising Occupational Therapist with gathering clinical information, administering delegated assessments, and documenting observations as permitted by applicable regulations and company policy.
- Communicate patient progress, changes in status, and clinical concerns to the supervising Occupational Therapist.
- Provide caregiver education and home programming consistent with the established Plan of Care and the supervising Occupational Therapist's recommendations.
- Complete accurate documentation of treatment sessions in a timely manner.
- Participate in observations and clinical skill leveling under the guidance of a mentor or supervisor.
- Maintain company productivity standards.
- Ensure treatment spaces and equipment remain clean, organized, and safe.
- Collaborate with Occupational Therapists, Speech-Language Pathologists, Audiologists, administrative staff, and other members of the patient's care team.
- Alert the supervising Occupational Therapist when a referral to another professional may be in the best interest of a patient or family.
- Attend weekly roundtable meetings and any additional meetings required by the Clinical Director, supervising Occupational Therapist, supervisor, or company owner.
- Pursue relevant continuing education to best serve our pediatric patient population.
- Perform other projects and responsibilities as assigned by your supervisor.
- Follow all company policies and procedures.
Administrative Duties
- Communicate actively and professionally through Microsoft Outlook.
- Complete scheduling and clinical documentation using Practice Perfect.
- Use the company payroll system to report time worked and request time off.
- Submit weekly productivity statistics.
- Accurately identify and review applicable billing codes within the COTA's scope and company procedures.
- Maintain required licensure, certification, and continuing education.
- Read printed and electronic materials, including small print.
- Communicate verbally with children, caregivers, coworkers, and members of the public.
- Type and complete documentation using a computer keyboard.
