Cost Report Preparer - Skilled Nursing

Role Description The Cost Report Preparer – Skilled Nursing role is a full-time remote position responsible for preparing accurate and compliant cost reports for skilled nursing facilities. Day-to-day tasks include gathering and verifying financial and operational data, organizing documentation, and inputting information into cost reporting templates and systems. The role involves reviewing cost allocations, reconciling figures, and ensuring reports meet regulatory requirements and submission deadlines. The Cost Report Preparer collaborates with facility leadership and finance teams to clarify data, address discrepancies, and provide guidance on reporting standards. This position also supports process improvements, maintains detailed records for audits, and assists with periodic updates to reporting procedures and tools.
Qualifications

• Demonstrated proficiency in financial data analysis, cost allocation, and basic accounting principles applicable to healthcare or skilled nursing.
• Experience working with spreadsheets, financial software, and reporting tools, including strong skills in Microsoft Excel or similar applications.
• Understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements related to healthcare cost reporting; familiarity with Medicare and Medicaid cost reports is preferred.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a remote work environment.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with clinical, operational, and finance teams in a clear, professional manner.
• Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial and resident-related information.
• Relevant experience in skilled nursing, long-term care, healthcare finance, or public accounting is beneficial.
• Associate or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
