Position Overview
This role is the strategic facilitator behind how New York Life defines, structures, and governs AI and agentic experiences for field personas, spanning agents and advisors, agent recruiters, and related field persona roles. The Director operates as a trusted partner to a broad, matrix‑based set of stakeholders including product managers, designers, business operators, compliance partners, technology, AI, data, and field‑facing business units.
Key Responsibilities
- AI/Agentic Experience Strategy – Facilitate and steward the AI and agentic experience strategy for field personas, synthesize leadership vision, distinguish AI‑enabled versus AI‑native experiences, and develop a clear point of view on AI acceleration versus human judgment.
- Future‑State Experience Vision, Concept Development, and Experimentation – Facilitate visioning for field personas, contribute to hands‑on AI experience concept development, design experiment collaborations, document current‑state workflows, and maintain a view of the field AI experience landscape.
- AI Experience Artifacts, Tooling, and Practice Innovation – Pioneer new strategy and experience artifact types beyond traditional deliverables, and build and use AI‑powered tools to accelerate strategy work.
- Financial Services Domain Expertise – Apply deep knowledge of life insurance, financial planning, retirement, and wealth management to identify AI opportunity and risk across each stage of the field lifecycle.
- AI Experience Patterns, Consistency, and Cohesion – Develop and curate a library of reusable AI and agentic UX patterns and recommend standards for consistent AI experience treatment.
- Framework Development and Strategic Facilitation – Design and facilitate workshops, develop risk‑complexity frameworks, and build shared frameworks for human‑AI interaction patterns.
- Governance, Stakeholder Alignment, and Cross‑Functional Collaboration – Contribute to AI experience governance frameworks, ensure accountability, surface constraints, and communicate strategy to senior leadership.
- AI Domain Fluency and Technology Partnership – Maintain fluency across AI domains, hands‑on familiarity with AI tools, and a pragmatic lens for evaluating AI capabilities.
Qualifications
- Education – Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Product Management, Human‑Computer Interaction, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience – 10+ years in product strategy, experience strategy, management consulting, or strategic facilitation in complex, matrixed organizations; demonstrated expertise in life insurance or related financial services; track record developing strategic frameworks and facilitating workshops; direct experience working with AI or data teams; hands‑on AI concept development; experience translating regulatory requirements into guidance.
- Skills – Deep financial‑services domain knowledge; fluency across AI and agentic technology domains; hands‑on fluency with AI tools; exceptional strategic facilitation and workshop design; strong communication skills; ability to operate in ambiguity with a bias toward structure.
- Preferred Qualifications – Experience developing novel strategy artifacts for emerging technology domains; stay current on AI adoption in financial services; exposure to omnichannel experience strategy.
Pay Transparency
Salary Range: $119,000 – $200,000. Overtime eligible: Exempt. Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes. Actual base salary will be determined based on factors such as experience, skills, and location.
