SteelSummit is seeking an EHS&S Specialist to support our steel operations in Decatur/Trinity, AL. This hands‑on role partners with plant leadership to drive a strong safety culture, ensure regulatory and environmental compliance, and advance our Safety Management System (SMS) and sustainability initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintain and update EHS policies, procedures, and compliance programs
* Identify and evaluate hazards, risks, and environmental impacts
* Support and implement Safety Management System (SMS) initiatives
* Deliver EHS training across all levels of the organization
* Conduct audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations; drive corrective actions
* Support ergonomic evaluations and industrial hygiene assessments
* Integrate EHS requirements into work instructions and operational processes
* Monitor EHS performance metrics and recommend improvements
* Participate in ISO 14001 (or similar) internal audits
* Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations
Qualifications
* 3+ years of EHS experience in manufacturing (steel/metals preferred)
* Bachelor's degree in EHS or related field preferred
* Experience delivering EHS training and conducting audits/investigations
* Strong knowledge of OSHA requirements
* Strong communication and problem‑solving skills
