Genomic sequencing and other innovations in diagnostic testing permit us to decode and process our biological makeup. We now have more data than ever, but healthcare providers don't have the infrastructure or expertise to make sense of this data. We are on a mission to build and connect systems to redefine how healthcare data is used in clinical settings. We're looking to build a legal team that can support our ambitious business goals.
Location: Remote or Hybrid in Chicago
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting with transactional work across our various business lines. Drafting, editing, negotiating, explaining, advising, collaborating. The Legal Team handles complex commercial agreements of all types, all in service of our broader mission to help people live longer, healthier lives.
- Drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements with both healthcare providers and life sciences companies. Working on an array of different types of agreements, including clinical and research projects, data license and transfer agreements, strategic collaborations, laboratory services agreements, agreements with payers, pharmaceutical companies, government entities, and anyone else involved in healthcare, biotech, and life sciences. Working through new legal issues involving artificial intelligence, large language models, intellectual property ownership, data privacy, and cutting-edge healthcare technology. Working on common corporate contracts, such as vendor agreements.
- Assisting with other types of general legal work in a rapidly growing technology and healthcare company. Some areas might include intellectual property, employment and human resources, corporate governance, fundraising, mergers and acquisitions, regulatory, and international issues.
- Working with various internal business units, including our commercial organizations, data science, medical affairs, product & engineering, finance, communications, and our people teams. Assisting in evaluating legal risk and opportunities with the projects our businesses are engaged in, and helping facilitate our business goals.
Qualifications
- JD Degree
- 4+ years of relevant healthcare transactional experience at an established law firm or an in-house role.
- Strong familiarity with the healthcare regulatory environment, HIPAA, Medicare and Medicaid payment issues, Stark regulation, fraud and abuse issues, and data privacy regulations
- Current bar membership in at least one state
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Impeccable judgment, including understanding how to properly evaluate and communicate legal risks
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- A great teammate who is willing to join supportive and collaborative colleagues

- Energized by working in a high throughput, open work environment where you are continually multi-tasking and re-prioritizing your work to respond quickly and meet deadlines
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Demonstrated intellectual curiosity to explore new concepts and accept new challenges
