A global climate solutions company with two decades of experience in environmental markets is adding a Corporate Counsel to its legal team in Houston. This role offers an early-career in-house attorney the opportunity to work directly with senior legal leadership on innovative commercial transactions and core business operations in a growing, mission-driven environment.
This is a hybrid role based in Houston, TX.
What You'll Do
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements supporting the development and sale of low-carbon fuels, carbon credits, and other environmental attributes
- Provide day-to-day legal support to finance and accounting teams at the intersection of legal, commercial, and financial functions
- Serve as in-house advisor on IT and data security matters, coordinating with outside counsel as appropriate
- Support corporate governance, global compliance programs, and company policy oversight
- Assist with strategic transactions across all phases, from initial NDAs through regulatory review and closing
- Analyze and support occasional claims and disputes with outside counsel involvement
What We're Looking For
- Licensed to practice law in the U.S.
- 3 to 7 years of experience with a focus on commercial contracts and transactional matters
- Demonstrated experience drafting and negotiating a broad range of commercial agreements
- Strong commercial instincts and business acumen with excellent written and verbal communication
- Sound judgment, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to learn across unfamiliar legal and business areas
- In-house experience a plus; energy or environmental sector background welcome but not required
