Corporate Controller

Corporate Controller | Irvine, CA | On-Site

Location: Irvine, CA

Compensation: $155,000 - $175,000 annual base + 20% bonus

We’re partnering with a rapidly growing project management and construction management firm that has grown significantly over the last few years and continues to scale.

Growth is being fueled through expansion and advanced manufacturing projects across the United States.

They are seeking a hands-on Corporate Controller who wants more than a traditional month-end-close role. This person will have the opportunity to help build the finance infrastructure for the next stage of a rapidly scaling organization while working closely with an experienced VP of Finance & Operations who brings a Big 4 background and significant corporate controllership experience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead accounting, billing, payroll, and revenue-cycle operations
• Directly manage the Accounting & Finance Manager and Billing & Accounts Coordinator
• Oversee project-based billing, proposals, POs, invoicing, collections, and change orders
• Review complex invoices and resolve client-specific billing issues
• Manage payroll processes for a multistate workforce of approximately 200 employees
• Review reconciliations, journal entries, expenses, and accounting activity
• Strengthen close processes, controls, documentation, and accounting infrastructure
• Support the company's transition toward a more mature accrual-based accounting environment
• Lead finance, billing, payroll, and workflow-system implementations
• Identify opportunities to automate and streamline processes
• Establish clear ownership, accountability, priorities, and deadlines across the finance team
• Serve as the primary escalation point for complex accounting and billing matters
• Partner with HR, clients, vendors, and executive leadership to resolve financial and operational issues

Job Requirements:

• 10+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including meaningful leadership responsibility
• Experience owning accounting operations, payroll, and revenue-cycle functions
• Experience in construction management, engineering, consulting, professional services, or another project-based environment preferred
• Strong understanding of T&M, fixed fees, and reimbursable billing
• Experience with project-based invoicing, POs, change orders, collections, and customer-specific billing requirements
• Hands-on experience with multistate payroll; ADP Workforce Now is strongly preferred
• Experience leading finance, ERP, billing, payroll, or workflow-system implementation
• Strong accounting foundation across reconciliations, journal entries, controls, and financial reporting
• CPA preferred, but not required
• Ability to work fully on-site in Tustin, CA
