Harmer is partnering with an established Houston-based company looking to add a Corporate Controller to their accounting leadership team. This is a highly visible role that will work closely with senior leadership and have responsibility across corporate accounting, financial reporting, complex accounting matters and special projects.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys a broad scope and wants to be more than just a traditional Controller. The position will be hands-on while also having the opportunity to lead a team, work through complex accounting matters, improve processes and play a key role in larger company initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee corporate accounting and financial reporting activities
- Review financial statements and ensure compliance with GAAP
- Manage accounting across a complex, multi-entity organization
- Support complex and non-routine accounting transactions
- Oversee and develop members of the accounting team
- Partner with senior leadership on accounting and finance initiatives
- Support external audits and other compliance requirements
- Assist with treasury and tax-related matters
- Participate in budgeting and forecasting
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation
- Assist with accounting systems and technology initiatives
- Lead and participate in special projects as needed
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA (preferred)
- 10+ years of accounting experience with 2+ in a leadership capacity
- Previous experience in public accounting (strongly preferred)
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP and financial reporting
- Experience working within a complex and/or multi-entity environment
