Proceanic is the leading provider of diverless, ROV-based underwater testing, inspection, certification, and compliance services for high-value offshore assets. Founded in 2002, the company has earned the trust of leading energy operators through mission-critical inspections that extend asset life, ensure regulatory compliance, and maximize uptime across infrastructure worldwide. Proceanic has completed more inspection campaigns on FPSOs, drillships, MODUs, MOPUs, and fixed platforms than any other provider.

Through a combination of engineering expertise, advanced robotics, and data-driven insights, Proceanic delivers safer, more efficient, and cost-effective alternatives to traditional diver-based inspections and is recognized as a thought leader in technology-enabled asset integrity solutions.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Proceanic is seeking a Corporate Controller to serve as the company’s hands-on leader for accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance across its growing portfolio of domestic and international entities. Based in Houston and reporting to the EVP, Finance & Strategy, this individual will own the day-to-day accounting function and build the systems, processes, and reporting discipline needed to support Proceanic’s next phase of growth across offshore inspection, robotics, and asset integrity services.

This is a hands-on role, not a traditional oversight position. During this calendar year, Proceanic is transitioning from an outsourced accounting model to a fully internal, data-driven finance organization. The immediate priority is to run a clean, timely monthly close, stand up scalable accounting processes and internal controls, and produce reliable financial reporting for management. Working alongside a small internal team and accounting resources across multiple countries, the successful candidate will strengthen multi-entity, multi-currency consolidations, improve reporting speed and accuracy, support audit and tax readiness, and establish the accounting infrastructure required to scale a lean, global technical services business — all while remaining willing to roll up their sleeves on the details.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Accounting Operations & Monthly Close

  • Own day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, consolidations, payroll, monthly, close, and financial reporting
  • Manage multi-entity, multi-currency consolidations across domestic and international entities, ensuring consistent application of accounting policies, including local Brazil to US GAAP changes
  • Own and continuously improve the close calendar, account reconciliations, and accounting workflows to drive speed, accuracy, and repeatability
  • Coordinate accounting resources across multiple countries to ensure consistent application of corporate accounting policies and reporting standards across all entities

Financial Reporting & Technical Accounting

  • Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP and applicable regulatory requirements
  • Prepare financial reporting packages for management and support the EVP, Finance & Strategy with management and Board reporting
  • Serve as the company’s technical accounting resource for complex or non-routine transactions, and assess the impact of new accounting standards
  • Maintain accounting policies and ensure they are applied consistently throughout the organization

Internal Controls, Audit & Compliance

  • Develop, document, and continuously improve the company’s internal control environment as it scales
  • Coordinate annual financial statement audits and manage relationships with external auditors and tax advisors
  • Coordinate tax compliance and filings across multiple jurisdictions with the company’s external tax advisors
  • Ensure covenant reporting and other lender and investor requirements are met accurately and on time

Systems, Process & Automation

  • Evaluate and streamline financial processes and controls to improve accuracy, efficiency, and scalability as the business grows
  • Partner with finance and IT to implement and optimize ERP, consolidation, and reporting tools suited to a lean, multi-entity global business
  • Drive automation of the close, consolidation, and reporting processes to reduce manual effort and improve financial visibility, including software integrations into and out of underlying GL, alongside other process improvements

Team Leadership & Business Partnership

  • Lead, develop, and mentor the internal accounting team while coordinating distributed international resources, and grow the function over time as the business scales
  • Establish performance expectations, accountability, and professional development within the accounting function
  • Partner with the EVP, Finance & Strategy and operating leaders to support budgeting, forecasting, cash flow planning, and financial analysis to support strategic decision-making
  • Support acquisitions, integrations, and other strategic initiatives, including financial diligence and post-close accounting integration

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting

  • Hands-on experience owning the full monthly close and preparing GAAP financial statements
  • Experience with multi-entity, multi-currency consolidations across international operations
  • Strong understanding of internal controls, audit coordination, and financial governance
  • Demonstrated success building or improving accounting processes, systems, and controls in a growing or changing organization

  • Experience in a private equity-backed or other sponsor-backed, high-growth organization
  • Big Four or national public accounting background

  • ERP implementation or optimization experience, including transitioning from entry-level systems to a scalable multi-entity platform
  • Experience in energy services, offshore or marine services, industrial services, engineering, manufacturing, or other project-based businesses
  • Exposure to acquisitions, integrations, or carve-outs
  • Experience supporting and building upon the transition of a company from an outsourced accounting model to an in-house finance function
