Position Summary

Our client is a growing real estate investment and development platform focused on acquiring, developing, and managing high‑quality assets across multiple investment vehicles and operating entities. Backed by institutional capital and an experienced leadership team, the company continues to expand its portfolio and investment platform while building scalable infrastructure to support long‑term growth.

The Corporate Controller will serve as a key finance leader within the organization, overseeing corporate accounting, development accounting, and fund‑level financial operations across a complex real estate investment platform. Reporting directly to the CFO, this individual will lead a team of accounting professionals responsible for corporate consolidations, development/project accounting, fund reporting, and financial operations.

This role requires a strong blend of corporate controllership, private equity/fund accounting, and real estate development accounting experience. The ideal candidate will be comfortable operating in a fast‑paced, entrepreneurial environment while helping build scalable processes, strengthen reporting infrastructure, and support continued growth across the platform.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all aspects of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process across corporate entities, development projects, and investment structures.
  • Oversee consolidated financial reporting and ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial statements and related reporting packages.
  • Manage accounting operations related to real estate development activities, including job costing, capitalization, construction draws, project budgeting, and partnership accounting.
  • Oversee fund accounting activities including investor allocations, capital calls, waterfalls, management fees, and coordination of investor reporting.
  • Partner closely with the CFO and executive leadership team on financial analysis, liquidity planning, operational reporting, and strategic initiatives.
  • Lead and develop a team of 6+ accounting professionals, including an Accounting Manager, Development Accountants, Senior Accountants, and Staff Accountants.
  • Establish and enhance accounting policies, internal controls, workflows, and scalable processes to support continued growth and institutionalization of the platform.
  • Coordinate annual audits, tax support, and interactions with external auditors, tax advisors, lenders, and third‑party stakeholders.
  • Support acquisition, disposition, financing, and development activities through diligence, reporting, and integration support.
  • Drive process improvement initiatives and leverage technology to improve reporting efficiency, accuracy, and transparency.

Desired Background

  • CPA strongly preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience with a combination of public accounting and industry experience preferred.
  • Strong experience within real‑estate development accounting, fund accounting/private equity structures, and corporate controllership environments.
  • Deep understanding of GAAP, consolidations, partnership accounting, and real‑estate investment structures.
  • Experience managing accounting teams in a fast‑paced, growth‑oriented environment.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to interact effectively with executives, investors, and external partners.
  • Experience with real‑estate and investment accounting systems such as Yardi, MRI, etc.
  • Proven ability to balance strategic thinking with hands‑on execution and operational leadership.
