Corporate Controller

Backed by Sequoia, Founders Fund, General Catalyst, Lux Capital, and Lightspeed, Nominal is a rapidly growing, Series B startup that is seeking a Corporate Controller to build and lead its accounting function as it grows beyond its current $1B valuation.

The Opportunity

This is a hands-on leadership role for an accounting professional who thrives in a high-growth, venture-backed environment and enjoys building rather than inheriting.

The Corporate Controller will own the accounting function end-to-end, establish scalable processes and controls, lead technical accounting and audit activities, optimize financial systems, and build the team needed to support continued growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Own month-end close, financial reporting, AP/AR, and general accounting, providing leadership with actionable data to inform strategic decision-making
• Serve as a strategic, data-driven, tech-forward partner to senior leadership
• Establish accounting policies, processes, controls, and scalable infrastructure
• Lead technical accounting, including US GAAP and ASC 606
• Manage the annual audit and external accounting relationships
• Implement and optimize ERP and modern accounting systems
• Build and develop the accounting organization
• Partner cross-functionally with Finance, Sales, Operations, Engineering, and Legal
• Support government and defense contract accounting, including CAS and FAR
• Oversee international and multi-entity accounting, including consolidations, tax, and transfer pricing

Ideal Background

• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including public accounting and/or high-growth startup experience
• Strong US GAAP, ASC 606, financial reporting, controls, and audit expertise
• Proven Controller-level ownership of an accounting function
• Experience building accounting infrastructure in an early-stage or rapidly scaling company
• B2B SaaS or venture-backed technology experience (esp. data platform products)
• Experience with ERP implementations and modern accounting systems
• Government contract accounting experience, including CAS/FAR, is a plus
• International or multi-entity accounting experience is a plus
• CPA
• Hands-on, entrepreneurial mindset with strong motor, judgment, and communication skills
