Friona Industries LP is a privately held beef production company that began as a single cattle feedyard in Amarillo, TX in 1962. The organization has grown to operate ten state-of-the-art feedyards in Texas and Kansas, with a feeding capacity that ranks among the top two feedyard operations worldwide. Friona Industries is focused on a vertically aligned production system that supports activities such as meat processing, feed manufacturing, and trucking. This integrated approach enables the company to deliver consistent, safe, tender, and flavorful beef for branded product lines. These products are marketed in approximately 2,300 retail stores across the United States.

Role Description

The Corporate Controller is responsible for overseeing all corporate accounting and financial reporting activities for Friona Industries LP. This full-time, on-site role based in Amarillo, TX includes managing the general ledger, supervising month-end and year-end close processes, and ensuring accurate preparation of financial statements. The Corporate Controller leads the accounting team, establishes and maintains internal controls, and coordinates audits with external auditors. The role also involves budgeting and forecasting, cash flow management, variance analysis, and providing financial insights to senior leadership to support strategic decisions. Additional responsibilities may include developing accounting policies, ensuring compliance with GAAP and relevant regulations, and implementing process improvements and financial systems enhancements.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess strong financial accounting skills, including general ledger management, financial statement preparation, and thorough knowledge of GAAP.
• Candidates should possess expertise in budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and cash flow management to support informed business decisions.
• Candidates should possess proficiency with accounting and ERP systems, as well as strong Excel and other financial reporting tools skills.
• Candidates should possess experience in internal controls, audit coordination, and compliance with regulatory and tax requirements.
• Candidates should possess leadership and people management skills, including team supervision, coaching, and cross-functional collaboration.
• Candidates should possess strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required; CPA or equivalent professional certification is strongly preferred.
• Prior experience as a Controller or in a senior accounting role, ideally within agriculture, manufacturing, or a similarly complex operational environment, is beneficial.
