CMM Programmer | Lombard, IL | Full-time, on-site

About Helander

Helander Metal Spinning Company has spun, hydroformed, and machined precision metal components since 1933. We are an AS9100 aerospace and defense manufacturer, about 50 people in Lombard, IL, and part of the Machine Sciences family of companies. We are a lean, cross-trained team with a fully paperless quality system and a tight connection to the production floor.

The role

Program and run our CMMs in PolyWorks and PC-DIMS for first-article and routine inspections on aerospace and defense parts. You’ll turn prints, CAD models, and GD&T into inspection routines, prove them out on the machine, and make sure the results meet customer requirements. You report to the Quality Manager and work closely with our Quality Engineer, machinists, and programmers.

What you’ll do

  • Program and operate CMM equipment (PolyWorks + PC-DIMS) for first-article and routine dimensional inspections
  • Build inspection routines from drawings, CAD models, and GD&T (ASME Y14.5)
  • Run the CMM portions of AS9102 First Article Inspections and document the results
  • Apply customer-specific CMM requirements, such as datum alignment and size reporting
  • Prove out programs on the machine, including probe qualification, alignment, and fixturing
  • Keep programs under revision control so CMM reports flow into our quality system
  • Document results and nonconformances, flag out-of-spec conditions, and support root-cause and corrective action

What you bring

  • 3+ years of precision dimensional inspection in a machining or aerospace environment
  • CMM programming and operation experience (PolyWorks, PC-DMIS, Calypso, or equivalent)
  • Strong blueprint reading and GD&T
  • AS9102 First Article Inspection experience or working knowledge

Nice to have

  • PolyWorks or PC-DIMS programming experience or certification
  • Aerospace, AS9100, or NADCAP experience
  • Calibration and ISO/IEC 17025 awareness
  • Root-cause analysis (8D) experience

Our work involves ITAR-controlled data. Candidates must be able to work with it as a U.S. person.

Pay and benefits

Pay: $30.00 to $44.00 per hour, based on experience. Hourly, overtime-eligible.

Benefits: medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and paid time off.

Helander Metal Spinning is an equal opportunity employer.
