Job DetailsDescriptionAmalgamated Sugar Company is seeking a Controls Technician to support industrial automation and control systems at our Twin Falls Factory in Twin Falls, Idaho. This role plays a key part in maintaining, improving, and troubleshooting plant control systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations. The position reports to the Process Optimization Manager and partners closely with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities Design, troubleshoot, and support industrial control systems including PLCs, HMIs, and plant networksInstall, configure, and commission automation equipment and control system upgradesSupport factory operations through monitoring and optimization of OT and industrial network systemsDiagnose and resolve electrical and control system issues to minimize downtimeConfigure and maintain VFDs, smart sensors, and industrial instrumentationCollect and analyze data to support continuous improvement and project effectivenessPerform inspections of control system architecture to ensure compliance with internal and industry standardsCollaborate with cross?functional teams on automation and process improvement initiativesSupport system documentation, backups, and change management best practices Required Skills and Qualifications Strong knowledge of industrial electrical troubleshooting and process control systemsHands-on experience with PLC, HMI, and industrial network systemsWorking knowledge of Rockwell Automation platforms, including Studio 5000 and FactoryTalkUnderstanding of industrial communication protocols (EtherNet/IP, Modbus, ControlNet)Ability to troubleshoot automation systems in a fast?paced manufacturing environmentStrong analytical, problem?solving, and documentation skillsAbility to work independently while supporting multiple departments Preferred Skills Experience with FactoryTalk View SE/ME, Historian, and FactoryTalk View ClientFamiliarity with OT network design and monitoring in an industrial environmentExperience supporting continuous process manufacturing (food, beverage, chemical, or similar)Knowledge of basic project management tools (e.g., MS Project or Visio)Exposure to cybersecurity best practices in industrial control systems Education and Experience Associate's degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Automation, or related field preferred3+ years of experience supporting industrial automation or controls systems in a manufacturing environmentEquivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered Why Join Amalgamated Sugar Company Amalgamated Sugar Company is a stable, employee?owned organization and a recognized leader in the sugar industry.
