We hire top talent who shares our values!As a BlastOne Hybrid Controls Technician, you will be responsible for supporting installation, commissioning, and controls integration of automated systems. This role blends hands-on field work with advanced troubleshooting and PLC programming.You will act as the liaison between the customer, contractors, and BlastOne delivery team to ensure systems are installed, commissioned, and operating as designed while effectively communicating installation status, risks, and impacts to the project schedule.Points of Responsibility include:Detailed review of new system installations to confirm prints and functionality as designedConduct startup and commissioning of new installationsProgram, modify, and troubleshoot PLC systems including Allen-Bradley, Beckhoff, and Schneider ElectricGenerate installation and commissioning reportsSupport subcontractors to ensure installation quality meets design intentConduct training for operations and maintenance teamsProvide remote and on-site technical support to customersTroubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, and control system issues during startupReview and modify PLC programs to support commissioning and troubleshooting activitiesSupport HMI setup, I/O validation, and system communicationsVerify delivered components and ensure all parts are available for installationCommunicate with customers throughout installation for scope, updates, and issue resolutionGather feedback from subcontractors to improve installation processesWork with PMs and PEs to de-risk field issues during installationProvide daily updates on project status, punch list items, and risksIdentify risks and develop mitigation strategies during installation and commissioningImplement quality control measures to ensure accurate and complete installationsRequired Skills / QualificationsProven experience as a Controls Technician3–5+ years of experience in industrial controls, automation, or field serviceStrong PLC programming and troubleshooting experience with Allen-Bradley, Beckhoff, and Schneider ElectricExperience diagnosing complex and intermittent system failuresStrong understanding of electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical systemsExperience commissioning and troubleshooting industrial equipmentAbility to read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, and layoutsDemonstrated success supporting technical project teamsExcellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skillsHigh level of ownership, urgency, and attention to detailAbility to coordinate multiple teams during installation phasesProficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive/SharePoint, and ProjectExperience with remote meeting tools (Teams, Zoom, Webex)Additional RequirementsWorking in the field performing installation and commissioning tasks approximately 60–80% of the timeIndustrial facilities at customer locations across various industriesStandard work week M–F (extended hours as required during commissioning)Travel up to 5 days per week (US & Canada)Valid US PassportAbility to make and modify existing PLC programsThe Perks working at BlastOneGreat family culture with a meaningful missionFlexible time offGenerous 401k policyIndustry leading Health Insurance & benefits programAbility to put your personal stamp on the success of a companyIncredible opportunities to grow within the company and the industry, both your responsibilities and compensationPersonality / Core Value RequirementsBlastOne is a unique company.
