Controls TechnicianWe are seeking a skilled Controls Technician to install, program, commission and service building automation and HVAC control systems.
The role focuses on implementing and optimizing BAS (Building Automation Systems) to ensure reliable operation, energy-efficient performance and excellent tenant comfort. You will work on site and with project teams to perform wiring, configuration, sequencing, troubleshooting and documentation for systems including Johnson Controls and other common BAS platforms.Key ResponsibilitiesInstall, wire and mount control panels, sensors, actuators and field devices per drawings and standardsProgram and configure controllers, operators and BAS software (e.g., Johnson Controls/Metasys, BACnet, Modbus) to implement control sequencesDevelop and implement control sequencing for HVAC equipment and system-level interactionsCreate and update BAS graphics, points lists and system documentationCommission and start up control systems, perform functional testing, tuning and validation against design requirementsPerform diagnostics, troubleshooting and field repairs to restore system function and optimize performanceAssist with energy efficiency measures and recommend control strategies to reduce consumption and improve occupant comfortCollaborate with engineers, project managers and onsite personnel to coordinate installation and resolve technical issuesMaintain clear service records, commissioning reports and change logsFollow safety protocols, building codes and manufacturer guidelines on every job siteQualificationsDiploma, technical certificate or degree in Electrical, HVAC, Controls, Instrumentation or related field3+ years of hands-on experience with building automation systems, HVAC controls and field installationsProven experience with Johnson Controls (Metasys) and familiarity with BAS protocols such as BACnet and ModbusStrong skills in programming, sequencing, configuration and creating BAS graphicsDemonstrated experience in commissioning, functional testing, troubleshooting and diagnostics of control systemsWorking knowledge of HVAC systems, sensors, actuators and control valvesAbility to read electrical and control schematics, mechanical drawings and equipment datasheetsValid drivers license and ability to travel to client sites; willingness to work in commercial and industrial environmentsEffective communication skills for interacting with customers, vendors and project teamsPreferred: factory training or certifications (e.g., Johnson Controls training, EPA 608, OSHA 10), experience with energy efficiency projectsBenefitsCompetitive Pay: $43/hr - $58/hrHealth InsuranceDental InsuranceVision InsuranceLife InsurancePaid Time OffPaid HolidaysCompany VehicleFuel CardCompany PhoneFor this position you must be currently authorized to work in the United States.
