Responsibilities
Under general direction, responsible for the design, configuration and operation of complete building control systems with a focus on HVAC controls to meet project requirements. Accountable to field teams for quality, timeliness and efficiency of designs. Develops complex software programs, commissions and troubleshoots to ensure proper operations of the building control system. Provides detailed information and submittals to communicate design and operation to customers, consultants, field installation teams and subcontractors.
How You Will Do It
- Design and configure technically complex building control systems as defined by the contract documents. Create flow diagrams, sequences of operations, bills of material, network layouts and electrical schematics as required.
- Develop and test software programs necessary to operate the system as per the intent of the project requirements.
- Coordinate the creation of necessary drawings and equipment schedules for submittals and installation.
- Select, order and track the delivery of materials for assigned projects. Coordinate factory‑mounting processes to meet factory and project schedules.
- Assist in the loading and commissioning of all system and network‑level controllers as required. Validate complete system functionality and troubleshoot problems with subcontractors and other trades to ensure proper operation.
- Provide field change information to the project team for the creation of as‑built drawings and software.
- Keep management, contractor or customer informed of job progress and issues.
- Assist in performing site‑specific training for owner/operator on the total building control system.
- Participate in release meetings with the project field team. Perform value engineering to provide cost‑effective results while maintaining customer satisfaction.
- Adhere to safety standards. Maintain a high regard for employee and subcontractor safety.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering with a minimum of three years of experience, or an associate degree in a related technical field with five years of relevant work experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the HVAC industry.
- Demonstrated knowledge of control theory, automatic temperature controls, building automation systems and other building subsystems.
- Experience integrating low‑voltage building subsystems using industry protocols such as LON and BacNet. Ability to communicate technical knowledge to non‑technical audiences.
- Advanced computer skills, particularly in computer‑related drafting tools.
- Minimum five years of experience, or an associate degree with seven years of relevant work experience.
- Travel to job sites outside of the area as needed to support customer needs.
Hiring Salary Range
$67,900–$101,900 USD. Salary is determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, internal equity and market data. This position includes a competitive benefits package.
