Trillium Professional is now seeking a Controls Hardware Engineer for direct‑hire in Calabasas! Annual salary is $100-180K—depending on experience.
This position focuses on electrical and controls engineering for large‑scale projects, including design from scratch, panel design, power calculations, risk assessment, component selection, programming, and installation/commissioning.
Responsibilities
- Design control systems, including hardware, software, and network components, from scratch.
- Draft and produce detailed drawings and schematics using AutoCAD or equivalent drafting software.
- Provide system input and modifications to support integration with other project disciplines.
- Collaborate with facility design to optimize panel location, minimize voltage drop, and arrange efficient hardware layouts.
- Manage vendor scope to verify safety, functionality, and contract compliance.
- Ensure designs meet local, government, and client codes and standards.
- Generate project‑level technical risk assessment documents and implement mitigation plans.
- Design and analyze safety‑critical system components.
- Develop redundant mitigations to enhance safety and reliability.
- Design systems involving complex motion and automated integrations.
- Prepare comprehensive system configuration documentation—including operation descriptions, detailed design descriptions, panel assembly drawings, termination drawings, network layouts, acceptance test plans, and routine maintenance plans.
- Perform calculations and analysis of short‑circuit protection, harmonics, noise reduction, power consumption, load flow, protective relay design, ground‑fault monitoring, and safety system implementation (SIL/PL ratings preferred).
- Apply ride‑system design knowledge for attractions involving guests (preferred).
- Work off‑shifts as needed during installation and commissioning to support the project.
Qualifications
- Organized, technically competent, with strong oral and written communication skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (other disciplines acceptable only if fully relevant to electrical/controls work).
- Minimum 5 years of experience covering the responsibilities above; preference for experience with ASTM standards, the attractions industry, and safety engineering.
- Experience with major industrial manufacturers’ hardware/software (e.g., Allen‑Bradley, Siemens) and ethernet‑based distributed remote I/O systems.
- Knowledge of contract documents, specifications, and the ability to collect and record field data accurately.
Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Office applications.
- Ability to travel up to 30%.
