We're seeking a Controls Engineer II to join a growing automation team supporting custom machine and automation projects. This role offers the opportunity to lead projects from concept through commissioning while working with advanced PLCs, HMIs, electrical controls, hydraulics, and pneumatics.

📍 Location:

• Grand Ledge, MI (preferred)
• Hybrid schedule: 3 days onsite
• Springfield, OH or Newaygo, MI considered for the right candidate
• Approximately 25% travel

💲 Compensation:

• $80,000 - $100,000 DOE
• Straight-time overtime paid after 45 hours per week

What you'll be doing:

✅ Design electrical control systems using AutoCAD Electrical

✅ Develop PLC and HMI programs using Allen-Bradley Studio 5000 and Siemens TIA Portal

✅ Design and troubleshoot hydraulic and pneumatic systems

✅ Integrate sensors, VFDs, servos, vision systems, and safety controls

✅ Lead machine startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, and debugging

✅ Manage projects and collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, project managers, and customers

✅ Create operator and maintenance documentation

What we're looking for:

• BS in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or equivalent experience
• 3-5 years of controls or automation engineering experience
• Experience with PLCs, HMIs, and industrial automation systems
• Knowledge of safety PLCs, ISO 13849, EtherNet/IP, and Modbus
• Familiarity with NEC and NFPA 79 standards
• Strong troubleshooting and commissioning skills

Preferred:

• Mitsubishi controls
• FANUC, ABB, or KUKA robotics experience
• Industry 4.0 technologies
