Controls Engineer
We are seeking a Controls Engineer to design, program, and commission control systems for industrial automation projects. The role focuses on developing PLC code, configuring HMIs, integrating industrial I/O, creating BOMs and AutoCAD schematics, and providing on-site troubleshooting and support to ensure reliable, efficient system operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, program, and commission PLC control systems for new and existing machinery and processes.
- Develop and configure HMI screens and operator interfaces to support safe and efficient operations.
- Create and maintain wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and AutoCAD schematics for control systems.
- Generate bill of materials (BOM) and support procurement of components and control panels.
- Integrate and test industrial I/O, communication networks (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, ProfiNet, etc.), and field devices.
- Perform system-level troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions during commissioning and field service.
- Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and project engineering teams to ensure seamless system integration.
- Prepare technical documentation, control narratives, and test procedures; train operators and maintenance staff as required.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to optimize control logic, reduce downtime, and improve system reliability.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Proven experience in controls engineering, industrial automation, and PLC programming (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar).
- Experience developing and configuring HMI/SCADA applications.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD for panel layouts and electrical schematics.
- Experience preparing bills of materials (BOM) and specifying control components.
- Hands-on knowledge of industrial I/O, field devices, and communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, ProfiNet, etc.).
- Strong troubleshooting skills with experience commissioning equipment and resolving field issues.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills; ability to work on-site during commissioning as needed.
- Familiarity with safety standards, wiring practices, and control system best practices.
