Controls Engineer
The Controls Engineer is responsible for designing, programming, commissioning, troubleshooting, and supporting plant control systems, primarily Emerson DeltaV with Rockwell PLCs, HMI/SCADA, and instrumentation . This role ensures reliable automation, process optimization, and safe plant operations while supporting capital projects and continuous improvement.

The Controls Engineer is responsible for designing, programming, commissioning, troubleshooting, and supporting plant control systems, primarily Emerson DeltaV with Rockwell PLCs, HMI/SCADA, and instrumentation . This role ensures reliable automation, process optimization, and safe plant operations while supporting capital projects and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, program, troubleshoot, and maintain DeltaV, Rockwell PLC, HMI/SCADA, and instrumentation systems.
- Support control system upgrades, startups, commissioning, loop tuning, alarm management, and optimization.
- Develop and maintain control system standards, documentation, backups, and cybersecurity practices.
- Support automation and controls for capital projects from design through startup.
- Maintain control system documentation, I/O lists, P&IDs, and engineering drawings.
- Manage preventive maintenance and calibration programs using Maximo (or similar CMMS).
- Support plant historians, data collection systems, and reporting.
- Provide technical support and training to operations, maintenance, and engineering teams.
- Identify and implement automation improvements that increase reliability, efficiency, and production.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
- 5+ years of experience with industrial instrumentation and control systems.
- Experience with Emerson DeltaV and/or Rockwell PLCs.
- 3+ years working with contractors and project execution.
- Experience with Maximo or another CMMS preferred.
- Strong troubleshooting, commissioning, and process automation experience.
